Did you know that from the beginning of time, God’s plan was to enjoy a relationship with you?
In fact, when God created Adam and Eve, He walked around the garden with them. He spent time talking and sharing and confirming His love for them.
Guess what? God wants to have that same type of relationship with you.
Although my wife and I have been married for more than 20 years, I can still vividly recall when we first met. We were working together at a local fast food restaurant. I remember the smell of the salty fries and greasy burgers that hung in the air, and those crazy 1980’s polyester uniforms and hats we were required to wear. I worked next to this one girl who I secretly liked, but I didn’t have the confidence to even strike up a conversation. Her name was Missy.
One day, I gathered all my courage to initiate some small talk, and then I asked her out on a date. She said, “Yes.” One date led to many others, and soon after I asked Missy if she would go steady with me. I was thrilled when she said, “Yes.”
The more time I spent with Missy the more I discovered how much I liked her. I looked forward to our time together and, eventually, my attraction developed into a love for her. After two years of going steady, I was now determined to spend the rest of my life getting to know her, so I asked if she would marry me. Once again, she said, “Yes!”
Over the years our relationship has grown to the point that we often know what the other is thinking, or what the other one needs and wants even before the request is spoken. Naturally, through the years we’ve had our share of disagreements, and we’ve experienced some challenges. But along the way I have discovered that I can truly depend on Missy (and she knows without a doubt she can depend on me). We have each other’s back, and our actions are motivated by what is best for the other.
This deep and intimate connection I enjoy with Missy is the same type of relationship that God desires to have with you. Our confidence in this statement can be found in Proverbs 18:24, “There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.”
The bottom line is this: God is waiting for you to choose Him. He is always for you and never against you. He loves you and wants to spend time with you, so you can build a relationship with Him and discover the amazing things He has planned for your life.

I’m living proof that when you connect with God, your life will never be the same.
